Will You Marry Me?

This is a photo and video production for Remember Events Management, a company that provide the service of planning your proposal for you in the most memorable way. I have always love the idea of a proposal shoot which hasn’t really been popular in Singapore, hence when the company approached me for their production, I took it up immediately.

I decided to rope in Yiqin and my brother William to handle the video aspect while I was the artistic director and photographer.The video will be completed soon, till then, let the photos do the talking.

More surprise await, releasing one of the string, brandon lower a lamp down which a letter was tied on it.

Then, Brandon got Jade to lower another lamp by herself.

And this time, it was a ring.

Promising her a lifetime of happiness.

A Night of Unfortunate Events.

If someone told me that it was a Friday 13th, I wouldn’t be surprise. It was already a tough production with heavy logistic, and with the series of unfortunate events, the production almost didn’t happen.

1. Started drizzling

2. Oil leaks out of the generator all over my car.

3. Generator could started when we were about to start

4. Rented another generator, but renter gave us the wrong wire.

5. WORST of all, at the end of the shoot, car battery DIED.

Everything added up, the production ended 4 hours late. But I am actually happy that despite all these events,I am glad we got what we came for.

Finally after a 4 hours rain, we were finally able to light up a candle.

And my favourite signature “Ring-on-fruit” shot.

And there were way too many ant nests around so I have to do something.

Just when all seem fine, the generator couldn’t start. Seem like i was the most affected. Ha.

While I was waiting for the team to get the generator problem solved, I went for a walk with yiqin to get some footages with jade.

By the time we solved all the problems, it was already very dark. With the bit of candlelight, the team began doing their final touches to the deco.

So what exactly are we setting up and shooting? For now, you will have to live with a sneak-preview and continue guessing till the next post. =)

The Garden Wedding

As a wedding photographer, i have attended many weddings, however this is the very first time i attended a friend’s wedding. I was invited by Lydia, who i got to know in JC when we were OGLs. A pity many other OGLs couldn’t make it though.

This is the first time I attend a wedding in botanic garden. It is perhaps the most beautiful outdoor ROM location i have seen.

After the ROM, i went to explore around the place and was pleasantly surprise before proceeding into a British colonial bungalow for buffet dinner.

And taking photos with beautiful girls is a MUST.

How the Android survive Hungry Ghost Festival

    It has been a quiet month for all wedding photographers because of the hungry ghost festival. But i have not been lazing around. A good friend of mine is the owner of a famous and relatively well to do blogshop, TheClosetLover got me to shoot for her.

In the past, I had always turn down blogshop offers but this time round i thought why not since i have time to spare on a August. And it turn out to be one of the most relaxing and fun assignment ever.

During this shoot, rebecca taught me how to make a cupcake, it’s really not that easy though rebecca keep saying it’s really easy. So people, if anyone ever make you a cupcake,please appreciate it.

And this shoot is my favourite shoot of all, it did not even feel like work  but  holiday.

And here are some behind the scene shots. Lokk at how much fun everyone is having. We even sail to pulau ubin to have a really awesome “zhi cha” lunch.

The man with the cig in his hand was Reb’s Dad,the captain of the boat. Last but not least, I really like the last photo,a family portrait of the wierner family. i love how the dad smoking and the gloomy skyi blend in so well with the mood of the picture.

The Naked & Famous

—Young Blood

Young blood.

If you have been seeing my photos or my logo in the recent University events, you are probably right, I have taken the photos for both SMU Business Faculty and NUS SDE faculty.

SMU has organised a runway show, “Slightly Scarlet” on this coming Sat and i can’t wait to attend. The themes i was given are Avant Garde and Film Noir. Initially i wasn’t quite sure if they have the resources to achieve these themes but i was pleasantly surprise when they actually got a pretty amazing wardrobe, Dr Marts and a team of very professional Makeup Artist and Hairstylist.

For NUS SDE photoshoot, it was shot on a mega huge yacht which was really beautiful and grand. For this shoot, i came up with the themes, the first one is a korean-drama like theme and the other was just a casual hangout on the yacht kinda theme.

  Felicia and Yi Kwee met 10 years ago when they were in CJC, and it was definitely NOT love at first sight. Yi Kwee decided to join Drama because that was supposedly what chics would join and that is how they first met. Felicia did not particularly have a good impression of Yi Kwee at first because Yi Kwee was the kind of boy who was abit lazier towards things that weren’t exactly fun and hence did not put in as much effort as Felicia thought he should be.

And the first time Kwee was invited to Felicia house together with the Drama club, he broke Fel’s toilet bowl seat and the following time he was there, he broke a vase.

None of their friends would have imagined them to become an item. However, things began to change when both of them were casted as the leads of a play. Since, they spent a lot of time together both during or after rehearsal as Kwee also made Fel tutor his GP. Eventually they started dating.

   This is such a cute and sweet story that i feel really compelled to share it here.

This is the one thing that most do not know about, I am actually a part-time Pet Taxi driver. It’s the kind of work that i do when i am free. And i must say this is a really fun part-time job. And through this pet-driver thingy, i got to know a bunch of really good friends, both dogs and human.

So on National Day, we decided to visit one the dog owner’s newly opened dog farm in Lim Chu Kang. But before i write anymore, watch the video first. Too adorable. AND THEY ARE FOR SALE!

Lot’s of cleaning and renovation has yet to be done. Soon it will be really nice.

And this is how much Caesar, the Malamute which is bigger than me can shit.

After making sure the dogs are sleeping in the air-con room, we decided to visit the frog farm.

It’s not that easy to catch a frog as they are really slimy. But Genevieve never quits.

I tried training the frog to jump through the hoop and of course i succeed. haha

These 2 aren’t women,the way they catch frogs are way too MANLY.

This was when cherring tried to do the kiss-the-frog-prince and i made it happened with a little push. She threw the frog at me after that.

—The Way I Am

The Adventurous Lee Clan

Candice is someone that i would consider my childhood friend. Put it this way, she was there for me when i was out of love with my first girlfriend and so on. And she made and mailed me birthday cards since i was 16.

Anyway i am really glad to be shooting for her graduation and family. I must say that this is simply the most enjoyable family shoot that i have done.

Since 15, Candice had always come up with random and weird ideas. For example, she will ask me to climb up a tree to have lunch with her, running in the rain after school and etc. Hence today, i got to know where that comes from, her family , especially her dad. They are such a spontaneous bunch and her dad is like an adventurous boy!

Over the years, I have always heard from Candice how important her father has been in her life. Her father was also the subject of her photography FYP. Hence, i made a conscious effort to make photos that could actually bring that across. And i really like how this one turn out.

Let’s hide in the bush so no one can find us.

   While everyone is complaining about the heat this month, i am not . It is a great feeling to shoot without having to worry about raining and most importantly , you get beautiful sunset.

   I always find that posy wedding shots are like your Uni graduation studio portraits, they are a must-have, but it is also very important to show the true happiness of the ceremony. So for this casual couple shoot, it was all about having fun and enjoying the companionship of each other.

For those following my work close enough, you would have notice a change in the way i shoot. And i am just very thankful for how all the good and bad things in the past crazy year had shaped me to become a better person and photographer.

Tell the story.

Since a while ago, I had always felt that the usual pre-wedding photos was not enough. Those photos shows the happiness of the coming event but didn’t quite show the story of their love.

And if there was a dramatic story behind it, the more it should be told. But of course not every love story is a dramatic one, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be told, like the one below.

Isn’t this familiar and alot closer to heart.

And for those couples who went through a lot, show it and celebrate it.

Beauty alone in a photograph is not enough for me as a wedding photographer. They must be able to tell a story, and a really good one.

Having thought of all these, I have decided to include photoshoots like these into the Pre-wedding packages at absolutely no additional prices. In exchange, tell me your story and make one with me.

Things that matter

While shooting for Gareth and Prue, something struck me. My fellow men, we are too carried away during wedding, planning and running the show that we forget what is the most important, our partner.

Sometimes, i don’t even get to see the groom much or otherwise they would be too tired from all the running around and making sure things go right.

Through my lens, i can see the sparkle in the eyes whenever the man helps his wife comb her hair, wear her heels or simply, hug her.

So i thought maybe a list could be helpful (for men only)

1. Kiss her like the first time when you unveil her

2. Help her with her heels

(they can’t really do it with the gown. And plus points to you for all her sisters.)

3. Find out how she feels about the day

(sometimes brides are more angsty because of the lack of rest and all. )

4. Serve her food, walking around with long gown ain’t easy feat.

5. Lastly, just be present. Nothing beats that. Let your brothers do the running around.

Lucas and Gabrielle’s AD

I must say it was really enjoyable shooting for Lucas and Gabrielle, everyone is so friendly and chatty which made me very comfortable. And naturally, the photos reflected that. I will let the photos do the talking.

And this is the very sweet family who gave me dim sum and coffee at 5am, which at that point of time is heavenly.

i love how she glow in this one, of course i made her glow.

My girl friends always say Singapore men are not romantic.

Many friends and clients tell me, men propose with HDB flats.

And come to think about it, i haven’t really hear many stories about romantic proposals.

It will be so lovely if i get to work with couples on things like this, so fun, so creative. And each and every couples ideals are different.

Yes, this time i am on the ladies’ side.
